Comments
Comments: 8 humans and 1 pup did Carrigain to start 2026. good snow pack right from the start. We all wore spikes for the road walk and past the crossings before switching to snow shoes for the ascent (heel lifts are a god send on this hike!) On the way down, I wore shoes all the way to the road walk.

The trail was in great shape. Some powder from last night's flurries, but there was still a visible trench that was decently packed. It should be a highway after we all rolled through with shoes.

Not many out today, but we did pass a few on our descent. COLD and the wind was insane when we were crossing the little bit of open stretch on Signal Ridge. The summit was socked in (and windy!) so no one bothered going up the tower.
