 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
No issues, parked behind a few cars at the side of the road. The side of the Kanc going east to west was not as well plowed/had more ice on the side and there was someone in the ditch near the beginning of the Kanc where it breaks off from 16; there were already several other cards pulled over and I was waved through and drove cautiously the rest of the way. |

 | Surface Conditions: |
Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Ice - Breakable Crust, Snow - Unpacked Powder, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular |
|
 | Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes, Light Traction |
|
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
No issues; I found it easier to cross with snowshoes since some crossings were partially bridged and sometimes it was hard to tell what was under what you were stepping on with spikes. If it gets much warmer I definitely would not trust those bridges |

 | Lost and Found: |
Alas I lost a snowbasket on the path out to Scaur. I backtracked for a bit and poked around in the snow, but it was cold, and I was alone and hungry and made the decision to let it rest in peace on the mountainside for now in hopes that a good Samaritan might pack it out if they see it, as I would |

Pine Bend was well packed; however there was enough base for snowshoes and I wore them from when it started to get steep (for the televators) and the whole way down. Saw a few people roadside before I left my car and passed one person on their way down, otherwise it was a quiet day. Thank you to Teal Goat and co for making tracks out to Scaur. THere were a few inches + of fresh snow on top but I could easily follow the tracks. I took a bearing at the cut off but didn't look at my compass again the whole way since I had seen the prior trail report and had faith in the tracks. Jar was in excellent condition, easy to open. If it wasn't so cold I would have taken a look through the contents. I am pretty sure I wrote down the date as 1/1/25. This is the first peak I've done specifically in pursuit of the 100 highest and it was a great starter for a cold day. |
