Wind Advisory day peoples! I chose to stay in the trees instead of a presi… but think Monroe would have been fine. I barebooted 2 miles in at the junction with the cutoff then put on my snowshoes. The parking lot had 2” fresh powder inches on it and it was quite boney down low but that would be no snowshoes have packed it down yet. I was first over on the ledges trail until another gridder passed me and her and the along for the ride had spikes and crampons. I made it up all the ledges in the snowshoes. Only 1 ledge did I have to pull myself up with the roots due-to the inches of ice. Rollins trail is better than expected. Not as many snowshoes on it to pack it down so a little ankle breaky in spots. Still pure powder though which is nice. Myself and the other gridder were the only ones to Pass today though. I took my snowshoes off at .8 to ferncroft. Sooo much wind blown drifts down low too. Low was 2” new and about 1’ on whiteface with drifts and an average of maybe 6”. So cold equals light and fluffy. |
