 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Limit 6 roadside per landowner, but less room right now due to snowbanks. Have a metal shovel and/or a backup hike. |
|
 | Surface Conditions: |
Ice - Blue, Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Ice - Breakable Crust, Snow - Unpacked Powder, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular |
|
 | Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes, Light Traction |
|
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Ice bridged with a few holes. Stable for crossing with snowshoes, but I'd be cautious with just spikes (less distribution of weight). |

 | Comments: |
Full frozen snowpack with an inch or so of powder on top. Still a little boney in the snow shadow stretch up top, as is often the case. Side trails have not seen much traffic (one had seen no traffic; breakable crust), so snowshoes are the way to go for those. I kept them on for the Mt. Prospect Trail without issue, but others may prefer just spikes if only doing that trail.
Chilly late afternoon with temperatures in the teens as the coldest Decembers in the past 40 years transitions into a cold start to January. |
