 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Parked at the end of the accessible/plowed portion of Mount Misery Road, before the blowdowns/boulders. There was a plowed out area at the end of the road to avoid blocking the nearby private driveway. The road was well plowed/sanded up through the second to last private driveway, the last stretch was not as well plowed, but AWD and snowtires got me up without any trouble. |

 | Comments: |
Hiked up the trail portion of Mount Misery Road, briefly crossed the NH snowmobile corridor 5, passed around the gate, then went followed the unmaintained olde road to the 90 degree bend to start my bushwhack up Towns, ascending to the notch between the named summit and its unnamed sub-peak to the northwest. Descended the southeast ridge, crossed the olde road, and followed the trail up the ridge going mostly south. At the top of that trail, I stayed high on the ridge going east, then north, wrapping the whole ridge around to the summit of Mann. Descended straight northwards, then went west on the olde road in the valley, before cutting back over to the olde road between Towns/Misery. I followed that one back to the height of land between them, then went up the ridge to the Misery summit. From there I descended northwest back to the gate and my car. The snow in the woods necessitated snowshoes, but was never arduously deep or frustrating. The whole day was almost entirely open hard woods, with hardly any places to fight through tight branches. |
