Took advantage of the large group that packed down the trail on 1/1. Spikes until mile 5 (including road walk). Put on snowshoes to take advantage of the heel lift. My calves are thanking me. It was cold, but pleasantly surprised the wind was minimal. Few decent drifts before and after the ridge that required a good packing down. I thought I was the only one on trail until I headed back down and ran into 5 people coming up. Overall, weather was way better than expected with some views at the ridge. Motored back down to the car and left the shoes on the entire time. |
