 | Comments: |
Had a few hours to stretch our legs after the long drive up from CT, so hit the upper and lower ledges of the loop CCW for sunset (3.5 miles out and back). Trail is pristine: hard packed with snow, microspikes all that’s needed for lower sections, but copious amount of ice at the first overlook and beyond, so K-10s were the weapon of choice, and had no trouble ascending or descending. With the wind blowing WNW, we were shielded from the brunt of the windchill, and able to enjoy the scenery without turning into ice cubes. Intercepted a flock of turkeys, and tried to get a glimpse of the bobcat that left prints next to our trail while we were ascending. This is a great one to do with the frigid temps, but definitely bring more than microspikes! |
