Terrific early afternoon hike after a full morning at Pats Peak. Terrific trail conditions - love the vistas without the leaves. Outstanding view from ledge. I carried traction but never felt I needed it - the few icy spots were pretty obvious. Trail was mixture of crushed snow which was somewhat uneven. Baker Ledge Overlook Trail had not been very tracked out - was a bit rough on my ankles. I went about a half mile up above the ledge before hitting my time to turnaround (I knew I wouldn't have time to summit Kearsarge). Air was crisp and wonderful. Could see nice snow squalls in the distance. |
