I was pleasantly surprised to find a half full lot and fully paved road after yesterday's snowstorm. That meant a decently packed trail and some familiar faces. The summit sat in the clouds, but otherwise it was a very pleasant afternoon with blue skies and comfortable temps.
There were two kinds of hikers today.
Those in spikes, who seemed to be slipping, sliding, and sinking a bit more than they preferred. Didn't look like much fun.
Those in snowshoes, who were floating along an increasingly well packed trail and making very good time.
Trail is in very good, but not great shape. A firm base is forming, and a few more groups in snowshoes should leave a very nice pack behind. |
