Comments
Comments: Ammonoosuc Ravine, save for a few small sections, was like a hardpacked sidewalk all the way to the hut. microspikes perfect for this stretch. Going up the summit cone of Mt. Monroe was a different story- lots and lots of boilerplate ice. Crampons necessary to safely go up and down it- microspikes didn't cut it. An ice axe for self-arresting wouldn't have been overkill, either- if one was to slip and fall, it would be a long, fast fall with a painful landing.

I originally tried to go down over Little Monroe to the Crawford Path and go back to LOC by going around Monroe on the Crawford Path, but this plan came to a screeching halt when I rounded a corner and the trail was basically impassable- it was completely blocked by a steep, near-vertical wall of snow. Backtracked to the summit and carefully went back down the boilerplate to LOC.

Weather conditions rapidly got milder as the day went on, with the temperature spiking and wind speeds dropping after I initially got above treeline. Great views were had as well, and there was even a very noticeable halo around the sun.
