Water Crossing Notes

Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: oh dear, I lost count of things walked over, thru, and around. evidence of someone limbing up the more annoying downed trees, but there is a lot of clearing to do on this trail. we flicked and picked up some stuff on our way up. there is a large spruce laying in the footbed about halfway up I guess, that folks are walking around.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: didn't see any, but any trail worthy dog would probably have a fun day.
Bugs
Bugs: it was warm enough for the snow fleas.

Comments
Comments: today was a terrific day! encountered about 20 folks, nearly all were in spikes. I opted myself to leave the snowshoes in the car, partner carried his the whole day. The road walk in was soft in the morning, the beginning of the trail is a mixed bag of thin icy monorail and dirt and tree roots. snow depth slowly increases the higher you climb. the trail is pretty chewed up and unconsolidated thru the steepest switchbacks. only saw 2 in snowshoes, so there wasn't much they could do to smooth things out. the rocks at the top were encased in ice. while we were up there, we were the only two who were bold (stupid) enough to climb up to the tower foundation. my partner scaled the icy boulders, while I found a spot that was speckled rime snow and belly crawled / slithered up. it was fine. snow was balling up on the spikes on the way down. took them off for the road walk back to the car.
