 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Plenty of room in Lot 2 at Waterville Valley Resort around 8:30. |
|
 | Surface Conditions: |
Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular |
|
 | Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes, Light Traction |
|
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
The first crossing was open, the second was still iced over, and the third was a mix of both. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
One small leaner about 3/4 the way up the logging road section on Mt. Tecumseh Trail. Blazes on both trails are very faded and need to be repainted. That old trail sign at the summit should probably be split up into separate signs for the three routes that leave the top. Just to make it clearer for newcomers. |
|
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
One hiker didn't have great verbal control over his growly dog. Otherwise, I saw a few other pups enjoying the day, including one who was doing their 32nd 4K. |

Mt. Tecumseh from the ski area, a route I hadn't done since 2014.
From bottom to top the route was a well packed, solid sidewalk. Snowshoes were not needed today. Some areas of minor drifting along the summit loop. The snow was getting a little sticky on the way down and my spikes were balling up slightly. Sosman was the more traveled route at the split but Mt. Tecumseh Trail had seen some traffic. Noted old boot prints heading down Mt. Tecumseh Trail toward Tripoli Rd. If you plan on using that section, you are gonna need snowshoes.
Quiet at the summit with milder temps and no wind. Decent views over the trees. |
