Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: I was able to drive up the unplowed road in my truck to the first junction, saving a mile plus 500 feet of elevation. There was one set of tire tracks which made it easier. Plenty of room to turn around and park near the gate with the current low snow level. I’d want mid clearance at least and it may be too icy next time if enough tires pack the snow down, so you could park at the bottom, (right across from the self storage) and walk up, or use tire chains I suppose but there’s nowhere to turn around until a mile in.

Comments
Comments: Had an interesting encounter with a mother moose on the snowmobile trail, she was guarding the baby I found out, and it took a while before I could pass and I saw them again on the way down, even got close enough for photos. The snow was mashed potatoes and snowshoes didn’t make much difference in only 4 inches or so. I ended up bushwhacking straight up to the jar when the trail turned downhill and confused me, but I followed it on the way back on the single snowmobile track past the fine wide open view ledges, 3.5 miles round trip from the junction. A wonderful little hike/ walk in Berlin after doing Moriah earlier.
