 | Comments: |
Trail is in exceptional shape considering the weather conditions we’ve had. I started off with microspikes from the car at the gate. Stayed with microspikes until one mile from the summit where drifts started so on came the snowshoes. The summit was windblown resulting in a thin layer of crusty ice. Going down the snowshoes stayed on until one mile from the trail bottom where there was as much dirt/roots/rocks as there was ice on the sliver of monorail. Microspikes were back on for the last mile of the trail and the road walk back to the car. There were a number of stream crossings, all mostly iced over, but still required caution due to the fragility of the ice. |
