3 of us in snowshoes ascended Crawford Path behind 3 with spikes.. snowshoes were WAY more efficient.. we overtook them just past the intersection of Mispah Hut.. 2” of new snow down low turned into over 1’ after the 1st view (which was nonexistent for us, and where we stopped to layer up to go above treeline).. a few drifts approached the 2’level at the turn to climb the summit cone on the Webster-Cliff trail.. there had been no activity beyond Pierce at that point in time.. (Jackson or Ike).. we had thought we were going to Eisenhower but the winds were howling and the trail was untouched.. usually the col between these 2 peaks is where the most snow is… on the descent, everyone we encountered had spikes on, so if these trails are “broken out”, expect conditions less than ideal |
