Comments: After a super fun morning at Pats Peak resort, I considered my options for a hike and given the tough driving, I chose this one. Lower down there was not much snow on the trail and rocks were semi-abundant. I did lose the trail within a half-mile of starting as the trail winds up the right side of a pile of rocks - lost about 10 minutes looking for trail. As I went up in elevation, the firm snow got deeper an there were deeper frozen postholes. The postholes weren't too annoying as they make the snowshoe footing more solid. There were a few inches of new snow and climbing as the snow kept coming down. I was pretty comfortable in snowshoes as there is a LOT of ice under the new powder. Some of the trail criss-crosses shallow open water which tended to freeze up on my snowshoes which was kinda annoying. No views from the Pinnacle but it's always fun to visit. I enjoyed Balanced Rock with a fresh coat of snow. This is my favorite time of year to visit the rock.
