Easy conditions for Mount Tom at the moment. Light traction the whole way without making any postholes. Most will want to change into snowshoes at the Avalon - AZ Trail junction for televators on the softer snow conditions above the split, but I had no issues chasing Sarge up and down with no slippage or damaging the snow track.
About a dozen or so happy hikers and a few dogs out and about, enjoying the winter wonderland and mild temps. Did have one odd encounter with a hiker who must have thought it was Sarge and I's first NH 4K, you were only off by 2,789, you old curmudgeon. Swing and a miss! |
