Broke out the Blueberry Mountain Trail after the storm. Parked at Glencliff and came down High St, to Long Pond Rd. Long Pond Rd is being groomed and used a snowmobile trail with a snow pile to climb over at the Long Pond Rd gate. You could also enter the snowmobile trail a little further down the road where it enters the field. The trail along the east side had 10-20+ inches of powder over a solid base -- in the open canopy down low I was wading through the new powder. Less snow under the softwood canopy, but still plenty. I broke out the trail west of the summit to the view ledge and oh my goodness there was a lot of snow, often drifted up to my knees or mid thigh. I took an initial wrong turn when descending to the ledges, but corrected course. Beautiful morning out and the going should be significantly easier now for this trail. |
