My partner and I tried to break trail to these two summits. At the trailhead we encountered knee deep loose powder. As we progressed, the snow got incrementally deeper. 3 hours of hiking later, we found ourselves 3 miles from the trailhead in waist deep snow that was loose, powdery and didn't allow for any traction. I couldn't imagine doing this trail without snowshoes for quite some time. |
