Comments
Comments: 7 of us broke it out all the way to just a few yards beyond the Frost/Twin Brook Tr. junction then came upon our final obstacle: a seemingly impenetrable tangle skein of frozen boughs. We had had enough of the slow obstacle course, clearing the carwash and avoiding spruce traps in a fast cooling slog and called it. We could see a bit of clear trail beyond but who knows what the north slope of the summit cone was going to offer. Our fun day of clearing the trail for the next adventurers ended with some revelry in the late afternoon sun and a hearty "lunch" at the hut. We had spotted cars at the west end with the thought of proceeding to Garfield, but the time spent breaking all the way up Gale River Trail precluded that.

At the typing of this note, I see that someone did break out the Garfield Ridge Trail from the west...yay and way to go! Type 2 fun indeed. The loose granular snow would not have been easy to break on the ascent of that from our direction. You must have slid down!
