Comments
Comments: Loose packed powder going up white dot. I found snowshoes with televators helpful, but most people were doing just fine with spikes. They weren’t post-holing for the most part, but it was loose and there were drifts occasionally.
Summit had a thin snow cover on the ice. More significant traction might be helpful for the descent.
White cross trail only had one set of post-hole tracks when we started down. Two of us descended in snowshoes in deep snow. Ran into three guys breaking trail going up and then another person descending before we finished. We were late in the day, so probably nobody else on that trail. That trail saw only 6 sets of snowshoes, so it is broken out but still very loose and unconsolidated.
