19-Mile is packed like a sidewalk (yay!), then Carter Dome Trail was pretty solidly packed. On my way up to Carter Dome (well packed out), the trail towards S./M./N. Carter was unbroken. When I got back from Carter Dome, two guys had headed over there, so I followed as far as Middle Carter (I just saw them about 30 yards past the summit) then turned around and went back down to 19-Mile and out. The trail from Zeta Pass to Middle Carter is in the early stages of beaten out trail - the snow is loose and unconsolidated. From Zeta Pass down to the junction with 19-Mile is in the mature phase of beaten out trail. At the parking lot, I saw the 2 guys, and they broke trail all the way down Imp (south), and broke out the Joe Dodge cutoff. |
