Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: There's one big tangled blowdown that is just a pain. It's about .5 from the summit. I had to try to do a large step over part of it while the other side tried to gouge my eye out. It's a tad easier on the descent. There are also a few duck unders and one that required crawling.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Again, none seen. Argh. :(
Bugs
Bugs: Still in Hell
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Nothing lost and nothing found. There was a pair of snowshoes stashed right along the trail beyond Mt. Surprise but they weren't there on my way up, so I think choices were made by someone who was still ascending. Unfortunately, I think they will have wished they had them as they got higher up.

Comments
Comments: I was the first one up today and the temps were 1 degree when I started. The beginning of the trail that is also a snowmobile trail was pretty nicely packed. Down low the trail was packed as well but snowshoes still made the most sense to not trash the trail and for the televators. I kept them on all the way back to my car. There is evidence of some churned up areas and some postholes but snowshoes just cruise over the tops of them and help smooth things over. It was 23 degrees when I got back to my car so the sun and warmer temps softened things up, again, making snowshoes a better tool to help preserve the trail. Those temps made me wish for shorts and t-shirts. It was positively balmy.
