Four of us set out to hit Owl’s Head before the trail closure on Tuesday. Wore spikes past black pond but switched to snowshoes for better traction. I had issues with snow balling on the spikes. Smooth sailing until the climb, which was in good shape, just steep. Saw a few earlier hikers come down, evidence of butt sledding. Easy after the climb to the summit. Trail is very easy to follow at this point. Be wise to take advantage before it doesn’t see any foot traffic for a while! |
