Comments
Comments: Second time in two days going car door to car door without seeing another person. Sawyer River Road is well broken out and can be bare booted although I opted for micro spikes. Once at the split with Carrigain Notch Trail the wind had started to blow drifts back into the defined trail. When you start the climb the wind had completely covered over the trail rendering it indiscernable with drifts up to my knees and hips if I stepped off where the base had been set up. Made for a long tough day but I broke it out with snowshoes to the summit and back. The open ridge near the summit is wind blasted and hard packed. Otherwise the rest of the day was drifted powder. The wind was still blowing on my way back down and my tracks were already getting filled in. Would recommend bringing GPS to follow where the trail is if you plan to break it out as the trees are not blazed well. Still a fun day despite the conditions!
