 | Comments: |
the parking lot to lonesome lake is hard packed. I wore snowshoes from the start but took them off when I returned to the hut to fly down the last mile in just bareboots. felt good to be bare. fishin' jimmy had a solid base with a few inches of fresh snow on top with some big chunks of hard snow in the way that had fallen off trees. I tried to stomp them all out. heavy snow covered branches made for a maze at times. kinsman ridge trail had some deep drifting. at times my dogs were swimming in snow. the worst drifting was between the peaks, more so heading to south kinsman. our three tiny bodies did our best to break out the drifts but snowshoes will still be needed up high for a bit. no wind, blue skies, didn't see anyone else heading past the hut. |
