Comments
Comments: A bit of a moot report as the snow has changed everything. But Crawford Path to Pierce was a firm snow trench for either bareboots, spikes or snowshoes, all viable. Beyond Pierce it was mandatory snowshoes with incredible snowdrifts and soft holes that were the size of humans. One friend ahead of everyone dropped into his chest and couldn't find the trail so bailed. We followed the Wandering Soules who amazingly broke trail and stayed quite true to the trail. There were still walls of snow that we broke down and by the time of our return hike the trail was in pretty good shape although still soft and fluffy with a few snowdrifts to navigate. After last night's storm expect more trail breaking with snowshoes! That snow can swallow a hiker!
