Snowshoes door to door.
Started early up Polecat to get to the summit by 9am. Note: it looks like lifts start running 8:30am Sat & Sun, according to their website and I'm not sure if that changes with upcoming vacation weeks.
Snow was soft and drifted from Wildcat D to Carter Dome summit. Lots of trail breaking! We lost the trail a bit coming down Wildcat A, but got back on track. Once we got to Carter Dome, we saw at least one set of snowshoe tracks (though it was hard to say if it was from the same day or day before), which made the rest of the hike over South and Middle Carter more manageable. We took Imp down and then took the Camp Dodge Cut-Off. Two of us in total and saw no one else out there. With the high winds yesterday, it's possible that our tracks are already covered, but hopefully there's a faint indication of our path. |
