A great hike Sunday. The trail was a highway with lots of hikers out. 90% of the trail is packed powder. We saw everything from bare boots to snowshoes and crampons. The snowshoes got a free ride from our group. The majority of the hikers were microspikes end to end. There are a few spots of poorly consolidated snow across the ridge or steep climbs up falling waters where snowshoes may help but are not necessarily required. The summits have exposed rock. Just don't step an inch off trail or you will lose a leg to the snow. |
