"Dry River Trail has changed" warns the sign at the trailhead. A lot of this trail has flowed down the Dry and Saco Rivers in the major flooding events of 2011 and 2017. Consequently, there are a lot of sketchy relocations: steep ups and downs and traverses where one must be careful to not slide into the river. (I was wistful for my whippet at times.)
I snowshoed to Mount Clinton Trail and back, about 6 miles. I could feel an old snowshoe track for the 1st mile, but that lasted only to the first incline. The snow was deep and felt deeper on the steep traverses, above my knees. A workout was had. At times I had to search for the trail, especially in the relo'd spots. GPS to the rescue.
Saw some critter tracks, including those of an otter down by the river. Their tracks always make me smile. Peaceful in there right now. No snowshoe tracks coming in from bottom of Mount Clinton Trail (hahaha).
