Comments
Comments: Crawford Path was packed and wide, a real highway. The trail narrowed a little past the junction, but still solidly packed. The spikes worked perfectly. There was an overcast at the summit with minimal wind. Eisenhower and Washington were in the clouds, views to Isolation and Jackson only. The descent from the summit to the hut was epic. That trail was not well packed and required snowshoes. Without them, expect postholing to your knee at best, to your hip at worst. Stepping off trail will lead to be swallowed by the snow. The trail meanders a lot until the steep section to avoid blow downs and massive drifts. There were few people on trail. I met with Jeff and we paired up for the descent, that made for a pleasant time. The conditions will have changed by the time you read the report but the part about the Webster cliff trail will still be valid.
