 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Thanks to my SYMMETRICAL ALL WHEEL DRIVE in my new car, I was able to not only ford the snow bank, but ascend an unplowed Summer Club Road and park without an incident. It was very much that of my childhood days fording the river in Oregon Trail on the computer. I did not however die of dysentery (yet) |

A FINE day in the North Country. Utilizing about a mile and a half of snomo trails, and then one brave soul who made it halfway to the col and decided that the view of a rootball was what they where after that day, some of the work was done for us. We left a trench that Officer Morra would be proud of. What began as 6" down low turned into sections of waist+ deep snow. Along the Cohos Trail, marked with abundant blazing and CT, we had very little trouble finding and staying on the corridor. This continued to North Percy (with a few exceptions). South Percy is a different story, and its "interpretive" Carl and MattJim kept trying to take the lead breaking, but our five sets of legs rotated and got it done. Several sections of 20 minutes or 100 steps, whichever comes first rotation. Due to massive snow depth, even at 3k, our lines may not follow trails mainly because its impossible to attack that snow depth head on. Incredible views from North. Ledges likely benefited from overnight snow, there is definitely ice underneath there. However my stage five clingers Tubbs Flex VRT's made short work of it, even if the front crampons are as sharp as a butter knife. Heading to Percy South, there is no blazing or evidence of a corridor. Having tracks on the phone is of little help, so we just went up until we couldn't go up anymore. Heading out was much nicer with a beautiful trough that we had left! |
