 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Ravine Road was plowed, with lots of room for parking. It was busy today with lots parallel parking below the winter lot. Road is plowed all the way to the Dartmouth Lodge, but the winter gate is shut. Not sure why it was plowed to the Lodge today. |

What an awesome day for Moosilauke. Gorge Brook is fast becoming a superhighway even after Friday’s snow. Tonight’s snowfall will soften things up a bit, but unless a lot more snow falls than is forecasted, this should be a pretty manageable trailbreak after the snow passes. Above tree line, we stayed in snowshoes. You could switch to spikes if you were just going out and back on Gorge Brook, but it’s easier to just stay in snowshoes. Once we continued down Carriage Road, it was a bit less packed down. There were some snowshoe marks, but mostly it’s packed by extensive ski traffic. The same is true for Snapper. It appeared to mostly be skiers, with a few snowshoes in between. Everything was well broken out, though—definitely no trail breaking anywhere. Make sure to stay on the straight and narrow, through—it’s deep off to the sides! |
