Comments
Comments: We used bare boots to the turn off for the bushwhack [not a "bushwhack"] and then switched to snowshoes. Down low there was a bit of fluffy snow over a soft but packed base. Once we passed the turn off for the Firewarden's trail the fresh snow increased and the base was softer. The snow dept continued to increase as we ascended and at the steep section closer to the top, the drifts began. The trail was totally obscured with some pretty impressive drifts. We broke it out and the snow was so deep that we walked right over the actual summit and didn't notice until we were at the viewpoint. We backtracked and unburied the sign. 2 of our crew continued onto South Twin and Steph and I returned the way we came packing down the trail more on our way out. Snowshoes are 100% needed going forward. Spikes would never get you there. Snowshoes. Yup. Snowshoes.
