Counter-clockwise. Spikes up to Passa summit where I put on the snow shoes for the descent. Kept them on until the Whiteface lookout where I put on the spikes again. Once below the ledge I put the snow shoes back on because it was too loose and I started post-holing. I doubt I'll go counter-clockwise again in these conditions. Met two other hikers on Rollins in snowshoes. Trails are in decent shape now but between the peaks snowshoes are the way to go. Going up to Passa in spikes was easy and no potholing or back sliding. |
