Comments
Comments: About 4”-5” of snow on top of well-defined trail of unconsolidated snow. Warming temps (in the 40s) softened the snow and caused constant balling under snowshoes for my friend. I greased the bottom of my snowshoes with vegetable oil the night before and the snow didn’t ball except a few times on the descent - made a huge difference. Saw a few others who barebooted. At higher elevation, trail got messy with deeper unconsolidated snow, snow dumps, and post holes. Got wet from meting snow falling on our heads and sweating from warm temps. Changed into dry shirts at summit. On the descent, we wore our hardshell and hood to keep dry.
