With due respect to earlier Krobi post about conditions when ascending from ski area parking lot via Ridge Trail and how microspikes were sufficient there: At noon the Mt. Rowe Trail from elementary school was a posthole mess, esp starting at about 1 mi from lot after the purple trail break off . The mashed potato fest worsened as brilliant afternoon sun shone. On descent I’m not sure the spike crew could have made it without foot-deep divots.
SNOWSHOES, people!!!! |
