Compared to yesterday on the Hancocks, at least it didn't rain! Pretty blustery. Spiked up to just after the viewpoint on the ski trail and then snowshoes the rest of the day. Snow was really softening up down low on the way out, which surprised me as it felt like the temps were dropping. The snow on the summit loop was the toughest to navigate. A lemon meringue pie that had dirt thrown on it and then frozen in liquid nitrogen would be an apt description! Didn't linger long on the summit as the conditions were not great with high wind and cold and didn't do the clockwise loop. The snow didn't clearly show previous snow shoe tracks and when I looked for them, I cam upon evidence of a bathroom break and chose to dance with the devil that brought me and just backtracked. Thus ends my winter week in NH. See you next year! |
