 | Comments: |
Spikes were the choice for travel today. First section of trail (0.7 miles or so) is thin ice layer that was crunchy. From this point to the softwoods, trail was hard and fast. From entering softwoods all the way to Waumbek was a mix of 1-2 foot wide monorail, with the last uphill section to Waumbek resembling a winter snowshoe trail. Some people must have had a miserable time in the past week or so based on all of the frozen postholes. Stepping off the side of the trail did not result in sinking or breaking through today. All postholes should still be visible tomorrow, even after the snow comes through based on the depth. |
