Comments
Comments: Hit my turnaround time because the upper portion of the trail was TRASHED by Microspikers during the warm weather. A minefield of foot deep, solid postholes.

Driving up the road and parking, it looks like there's almost no snow left. However, within 100 feet of the trailhead, there's consistent ice and snow (not overly deep). Currently firm blue ice, so dull Microspikes won't cut it. There is a stretch about halfway up the pitch where it's just mud, long enough to take off spikes or snowshoes. Atop the pitch, there's a foot or more of frozen granular littered with frozen postholes. Hard to imagine tonight's storm will drop enough snow to fix it. I gave up at the first ledge on the west side of the loop.

Until we either get significant snow or warm weather, this route is better left on the shelf. Thank a warm weather Microspiker.
