All were rock hoppable. Some trickier than others but no issues. I brought makeshift waders just in case, but did not need them. |

Not knowing what to expect, I brought everything but the kitchen sink. And what did I need? Just microspikes. Everything has refrozen and is a brick. Even if you wander off trail a bit, the snow is firm and supportive. I only postholed 3 or 4 times due to spruce traps. Trees beyond Zeacliff still super bad despite 2' less snowpack compared to 3 weeks ago. Exposed areas on Guyot and Bondcliff are essentially bare, just small patches of snow and ice. Occasional snowshoe sized posthole between Zeacliff and Guyot, but otherwise trail is in great shape. Bring rock spikes for Zealand Road (of course that was the one form of traction I did not bring). It was recently plowed for the water supply and there is hard smooth ice below a dusting of snow. I barebooted not wanting to destroy my relatively new spikes and had several near slip and falls. My 4th time doing the road since this year's closure and by far the worst conditions on it. |
