It brought me great joy to see several awesome dogs having a blast with their humans. We had to put down our beloved Fin on Monday, so this hike was very tough. She did about half the guidebook redline with me, and several thousand miles of hiking by my side. RIP Fin-you are dearly missed, sweet girl! |

A few inches of fresh snow made for awesome snowshoe conditions early this morning. The first six hikers (and one skier) laid down an awesome track. On the descent, hordes of microspikers were absolutely trashing the trail. I just smiled and said good morning, because what else can you do?! The postholes going up are all off the sides of the trail and are DEEP. Once on the ridge and the summit cone the trail is particularly a hot mess, with some monorail forming as well. It was very manageable, however, with care for this short stretch. Awesome morning out reflecting upon and being grateful for twelve incredible years of companionship and unconditional love from Fin. |
