Comments
Comments: Shoulder season conditions, with some bare stretches down low in the sun, but otherwise still a trace of snow remaining from Friday night's storm on top of existing base. Some blue ice to contend with along the brook and a few places above there, transitioning to stable (below freezing this morning) monorail transitioning to awkward frozen granular with bulletproof divots and postholes (thank a warm weather Microspiker) up high. Still about a foot of snowpack in the upper elevations. I would want snowshoes if doing secondary trails, such as the Eagle Cliff Trail. It would not be unreasonable to bring snowshoes for the upper half of the Red Hill Trail if going out in the warmer, wet weather forecast to arrive.

Cloudy morning with temperatures in the upper 20s. Lakes still look very frozen, despite last week's blow torch.
