Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Because I am a TOTAL wimp, I bypassed both water crossings using the snowmobile bridges. The water was running high and the rocks were really icy in the morning and I wasn't really feeling like taking a swim.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: There are a few odds and ends of blowdowns along the way but nothing that really impedes travel.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: None seen. :(
Bugs
Bugs: Still in Hell
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: I found one Ricola cough drop. No, I didn't eat it.

Comments
Comments: What a great day! The trails are a mishmash of all the conditions. I bare booted the road walk and about the first 1.75 miles of the trail. There was some snow and ice but the rocks were exposed enough that I just picked my way through. I put on rock spikes at that point and kept them on for the rest of the ascent. Above Halfway Rock it was still icy and muddy but as I got higher the trail was nicely packed and spikes were perfect. The summit was bare rock which was very different from my last trek up here. I switched to Hillsound Pros on the way down as some of the stretches of ice had laughed at my rock spikes and I wanted better purchase. As the temps warmed there was more running water and mud on the descent so I switched back to rock spikes AGAIN. Finally I took them off about 1.5 miles from the road. It's that time of year - bring all your favorite traction devices and plan on multiple wardrobe changes. It's all good and always is beats sitting on my rear end on the couch!
