Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Rocks & logs were covered in ice during the first crossing. I made it across with dry feet, my partner in crime did not, neither did my dogs but they didn't even try. Lazy. Second time crossing the water was moving a bit faster but still not very high & with the warm temps we just walked across it and got our feet wet for funsies.

Trail Maintenance Notes: Few branches hanging low but overall trail is in good shape.

Comments
Comments: Sawyer River Road was the worst part all day. Monorail was super icy & slick with a dusting of new snow on top hiding the really slick spots & I was being stubborn about putting on spikes. Put microspikes on at the trailhead. Trail was pretty icy but the dusting to an inch of new snow helped with traction. Hillsounds stayed in my pack. Monorail all the way to the top. Some postholes here and there, little bit of running water, some crusty ice we broke through but overall this trail was in really good shape. Better than when I ran it in November & January. Trail was getting sticky towards the end but stayed firm. I did fall into a posthole made by a SNOWSHOE (we should just ban them already, jkjk). We went the new route because the water crossing for the more popular way to go in winter looked rough. Drank too many shots, blasted thirst trap queen music and celebrated the last few moments of Winter! If you need Carrigain now is a time to get it because I don't think tonights weather will change it much, but I ain't a weather man. And pleeeeease remember, for the love of god, never listen to a trail runner!
