Comments
Comments: I found a report about this trail on nhfamilyhikes.com describing a loop trail from Cook Hill Rd to the NE of the peak. It was a lovely drive up Ellsworth Hill road which actually had the best view of all. The next two roads were dirt and washboarded and narrow. I came to the gate at the end which said No Hunting, this is where I parked in a plowed spot. The day was warming up so I put my snowshoes on, as there was plenty of snow on the trail. I followed shallow boot prints which guided me along, as there are no markers. I turned left in the first couple hundred feet, but ended up back on the same logging road at the end of the hike, which was somewhere between 2-3 miles on the foot path, I’m not certain since I didn’t record a track and it’s not on the map. I lost the trail briefly when the snow disappeared near the summit. It was easier to follow on the second half of the loop, but no signs, so I had to guess at some junctions of logging paths. Not much views on the trail or summit, and I wasn’t here for views anyway, there were plenty from the road if that’s all you want. Thank you to the land owners for allowing access from this side.
