 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Plenty of parking before sunrise. 7 cars around 11am, with room for 4-5 more. |
|
 | Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth, Wet Trail, Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Wet/Slippery Rock, Ice - Breakable Crust, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Stable), Snow - Spring Snow |
|
 | Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes, Light Traction |
|
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Black ice alert!
All can be crossed, but black ice is hiding on top of dry looking rocks. Take some care on choosing what to step on and you'll be fine. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
A handful of blow downs and drainages need to be addressed, but nothing is blocking the trail.
(I kept this vague and unhelpful just to give Bruce a nice poke. Don't worry...more details are coming.) |

 | Comments: |
Far better conditions than expected for edge season hiking.
Bareboots up to the Bald spur, then spikes for the rest of the hike. The trail is a mix of dry, mud, ice, packed snow, but no post holing today, although someone wasn't so lucky a few days ago.
My recommendation - bring the snowshoes and hope you don't need them. As the ridge softens they might be helpful. |
