Comments
Comments: Gorgeous day for a hike! Completed 7 trails for the redline - only 459 left! For the most part, the trails are in good condition, especially given that crews likely haven't been able to do too much winter clean up yet. Snow is mostly gone at the higher elevations, though Great Gully still has a good amount of snow. Where I was, there was only a few small patches buried in deep holes. The rivers were surprisingly low for this time of year and yielded fairly easy brook crossings. Cliffway, Monaway, Ladderback, Lower Bruin and Scar trails, are clearly less frequently used and have a few sections that harder to follow, but for the most part, the blazes are well kept even though the beaten path blends in with the forest. Final note is don't underestimate Chemin Des Dames! That trail is very steep, and Tunnel Rock (like a boulder cave but oriented vertically) is a particularly challenging move. Took me 35 minutes to go the 0.4mi.
