 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Plenty of room in the Lincoln Woods fee lot. Restrooms with flush toilets and running water. |

 | Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable |
|
 | Recommended Equipment: |
|
|
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
The water flow is robust. There are plenty of rocks to use for the crossings. Some of the rocks are overtopped by water. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Work is scheduled for the East Branch bank failure on the Lincoln Woods Trail. The Lincoln Woods Trail will close on June 15th.
The Bondcliff Trail is in the wilderness area so there are many tree falls that can be stepped or straddled over or walk under. I cut one evergreen that was across the trail at about 4' above the surface. Hikers had walked off trail due to this obstruction.
There are some short stretches of the Bondcliff Trail with erosion due to brook overflow. There is a short relocation tom avoid the worst eroded section on approach to one brook.

 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Lincoln Woods trail easy for dogs.
Bondcliff Trail is also fine for dogs except some dogs may have difficulties with the steep ledge just below Bondcliff (Hillary's Step). In the past I saw a dog that refused to ascend at this point, so the couple took turns walking to the summit while the other stayed with the good-sized dog. |
|
 | Bugs: |
Some bugs. Wasn't bad enough to wear the head net. |

 | Comments: |
Although there are many muddy spots on both trails, most of the distance is on dry trails. The mud areas frequently have rock steppingstones, RR ties/roots, or well-worn bypasses to avoid stepping in the worst of the mud. I did not step in any boot sucking mud.
Exceptional views from the open summit of Bondcliff. Perfect sky conditions.
Saw flowers of Painted Trillium, Red Trillium, Mayflower, Bluebead Lily, Hobblebush, and Lady's Slipper.
A hiker from Marblehead MA finished the NH 48 4K today on Bondcliff. Met a hiker from Litchfield NH where I used to live. Nice chatting with Samantha from Jackson, NH. Met two one day Pemi Loopers. Many overnight hikers. |
