What a great day to return to hiking 4k's to help Sarah finish off her grid on Isolation. The trails were in great shape today all the way up and down to Isolation today. With the usual wet, muddy and stream running down the trail. After all it is Rocky Branch. On the way out I made a detour for South engine hill off of RB trail at about 2900 feet. I headed SSW and found many moose trails and some thick trees to push through to the summit. I found the jar still in good shape hanging on a tree right next to a small cairn at the southern side of the summit. On the way out I headed due east down some wide open birch glades to about 2800ft then paralleled that elevation due south till I popped back out on RB about 100 yards above the wilderness sign. |
